Refer to the troubleshooting tips below if your technical environment does not meet the minimum system requirements for ANZ Direct Online or ANZ Internet Banking.

Troubleshooting tips:

Clearing Cache Instructions (By browser)
  1. With Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge open, press the 'Ctrl', 'Shift' & 'Delete' buttons on your keyboard.
    This will present you with a 'Delete Browsing History' box.
  2. Ensure the following three boxes are ticked: 'Temporary Internet files and website files',
    'Cookies and website data' and 'History'.
  3. Select 'Delete'.
  4. Close Internet Explorer/Microsoft Edge.
  1. With Google Chrome open, press the 'Ctrl', 'Shift' & 'Delete' buttons on your keyboard.
    This will present you with a 'Clear browsing data' box
  2. From the drop down at the top of the screen, select 'All time'.
  3. Ensure that the following three tick boxes are ticked: 'Browsing history',
    'Cached images and files' and 'Cookies and other site data'.
  4. Select 'Clear Data' at the bottom of screen.
  5. Close Google Chrome.
  1. With Mozilla Firefox open, press the 'Ctrl', 'Shift' & 'Delete' buttons on your keyboard.
    This will present you with a 'Clear Recent History' box.
  2. From the drop down at the top of screen, select 'Everything'.
  3. Ensure that the following three tick boxes are ticked: 'Browsing & download History', 'Cookies' and 'Cache'
  4. Select 'Clear Now'
  5. Close Mozilla Firefox
  1. With Safari open, press the 'Command' and Comma (,) buttons on your keyboard.
  2. Click on the 'Privacy' tab.
  3. Select the 'Remove All Website Data' button.
  4. Select 'Remove Now' to confirm.
  5. Close Safari.
Install a Supported Web Browser

ANZ Direct Online and ANZ Internet Banking are accessed via your web browser. We recommend using the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari*. By using the latest version available, you can ensure a faster and more secure browsing experience. If you choose to use an unsupported or out-of-date internet browser, some functionality may not be available.

Enable JavaScript

JavaScript is a programming language run by the web browser. It must be enabled to run the ANZ Direct Online application and ANZ Internet Banking.

JavaScript is also required to run this system checking tool.

The system checking tool checks whether JavaScript has been enabled.

Follow these steps to enable Javascript in Internet Explorer version 11 and onwards:

  1. Open Internet Explorer (web browser).
  2. Select Tools from the main Internet Explorer menu.
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click on the Security tab.
  5. Select the Internet icon from the list of web content zones.
  6. Select the Custom Level button. A new Security Settings window displays.
  7. In this new window, scroll right down to Scripting > Active Scripting.
  8. Select the Enable option.
  9. Click OK on the Security Settings window.
  10. Click OK on the Internet Options window.
Enable Cookies

Each time you go to ANZ Direct Online or ANZ Internet Banking, your browser will send cookies to the Bank's server. The server uses this information to authenticate you and to present you with your organisation's view of the application e.g. your organisation's account information and transaction data only. Cookies must be enabled.

The system checking tool checks whether cookies are enabled.

Follow these steps to enable cookies in Internet Explorer version 11 and onwards:

  1. Open Internet Explorer (web browser).
  2. Select Tools from the main Internet Explorer menu.
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click on the Privacy tab.
  5. Click on the Advanced button. A new Advanced Privacy Settings window displays.
  6. In this new window, tick the Override automatic cookie handling checkbox.
  7. For First-party Cookies, choose Accept.
  8. For Third-party Cookies, choose Accept.
  9. Click OK on the Advanced Privacy Settings window.
  10. Click Apply.
  11. Click OK on the Internet Options window.
Check Operating System

ANZ Direct Online and ANZ Internet Banking have been extensively tested and are supported on Windows 7 and above, and MAC OS X 10.10* and above.

Turn Off Pop-up Blockers

Note: Turning off pop-up blockers is not required for ANZ Internet Banking

Pop-up blockers prevent new windows from automatically opening when you visit a website. This feature must be turned off or configured to allow popups for the ANZ Direct Online application.

The system checking tool checks whether your pop-up blocker is turned off.

Follow these steps to allow ANZ Direct Online Pop-up’s in Internet Explorer version 11 and onwards:

  1. Open Internet Explorer (web browser).
  2. Select Tools from the main Internet Explorer menu.
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Select the Privacy tab
  5. Under the Pop-up Blocker section click Settings button
  6. Type: www.anzdirect.co.nz in the 'Address of website to allow' field and select Add
  7. Click Close on the Pop-up Blocker settings window
  8. Click OK on the Internet Options window

Important note: You may also have third party toolbars that may be blocking pop-ups. These are typically located under the main Internet Explorer address field (where you type website addresses). Please make sure that any toolbar pop-up blockers are turned off or configured to allow pop-ups from this site.

Install Adobe Acrobat v7+

ANZ Direct Online and ANZ Internet Banking requires Adobe Acrobat version 7 (or above) to be installed if a PDF report is required. The system checking tool checks whether you have the correct version of Adobe Acrobat installed.

If you do not have the recommended version of Adobe Acrobat, you can install it for free from the official Adobe site.
